Privacy Policy - Habit Refresher
Effective Date: February 13, 2026
Overview
Habit Refresher: Wellbeing & Productivity ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains our data practices.
TL;DR: Habit Refresher does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything stays on your device. No tracking. No analytics. No data collection.
Data Collection
Habit Refresher does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal information. All settings and preferences are stored locally on your device using Chrome's local storage API.
What Data Stays Local
The following information is stored only on your device and never leaves your computer:
- Wellness break preferences (eye saver, movement, hydration settings)
- YouTube optimizer settings (thumbnail preferences)
- Social media blocker configurations (which sites you choose to block)
- Theme preferences (dark/light mode)
Permissions Usage
Habit Refresher requests the following permissions. Here's exactly how we use them:
Storage
Used to save your preferences locally on your device. No data is sent to any server.
Idle
Used to detect when your computer is locked to pause wellness timers. Timers continue running even when you're using other applications, and only pause when your computer is locked.
Alarms
Used to schedule wellness break reminders at your configured intervals (eye breaks every 20 minutes, hydration every 60 minutes, movement breaks every 30 minutes).
Notifications
Used to display wellness break reminders (eye breaks, movement breaks, hydration alerts).
declarativeNetRequest
Used to block social media sites that you select in the Social Media Blocker feature. This permission allows the extension to block network requests to specific social media domains (like Facebook, TikTok, Instagram) using the browser's native blocking mechanism. You have full control over which sites are blocked, and no data is collected or transmitted.
Host Permissions
YouTube (*://*.youtube.com/*): Required for the YouTube Optimizer feature. The
extension
injects a content script into YouTube pages to modify the page display — hiding distracting elements like
thumbnails,
Shorts, and sidebar recommendations based on your settings. We do not collect or transmit any browsing data.
Third-Party Services
Habit Refresher does NOT use any third-party services, analytics, tracking, or advertising networks. There are no external API calls, no cloud services, and no data transmission of any kind.
Data Sharing
Since we don't collect any data, we have nothing to share. Your information never leaves your device.
Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by:
- Clearing your extension settings within the extension interface
- Uninstalling the extension (this removes all stored data)
- Using Chrome's "Clear browsing data" feature and selecting "Hosted app data"
Your Rights
Since Habit Refresher stores all data locally on your device:
- You have complete control over your data
- You can view all stored settings within the extension
- You can delete all data by uninstalling the extension
- No data is shared with us or any third parties
Children's Privacy
Habit Refresher does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the extension's store listing. The "Effective Date" at the top of this policy will be revised accordingly.
